Did the cinderella shoes do their magic?

A few years ago, I wrote a short piece on my cinderella shoes.

The cinderella shoes

When the world is blue
and I can’t seem to find my rose tinted glasses,
When the evenings stretch endless
I step into my Cinderella shoes and go dancing.

When the prince charming is missing
and fairy tales gather dust,
When loneliness creeps in with the shadows
I step into my Cinderella shoes and go dancing.

When diamonds lose their sparkle
and stars lose their sheen,
When twinkle dims in my eyes
I step into my Cinderella shoes and go dancing.

With rouge on my cheeks
and gloss on my lips,
With a shimmery dress and blow dried hair
I step into my Cinderella shoes and go dancing.

I sway with the music
and hear the beat pounding in my ears,
As I step into my Cinderella shoes and go dancing
the world is suddenly a better place.

The world has definitely been blue, the prince charming is gone, and the diamonds have lost their sparkle. And I’ve lost my will to dress up. But today, I remembered this piece and I thought i’ll give it a try; maybe the cinderella shoes would work. The rouge, the gloss, the dress and hairdo was missing, and there was no dancing either; but just wearing those heels made me feel better – and worse.
I had to try them on, but perhaps they need to lie low for some time yet. I am not ready. And no pair of cinderella shoes can make this a happy ending!
